ABSTRACT: THE ROLE OF FINANCIAL MARKETS IN THE BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT
This research aims to: 1) evaluate the impact of financial markets on business financing options; 2) analyze the effects of stock market volatility on business decisions; and 3) assess the role of financial markets in economic stability. A survey research design is adopted to capture diverse insights. Using Taro Yamane’s formula, a sample size of 340 participants, including finance managers and business executives, is determined. Lagos, with its prominent financial district, is selected as the location. The survey achieves a reliability coefficient score of 0.87. Findings indicate that financial markets play a crucial role in providing businesses with financing options and influencing strategic decisions. However, volatility in financial markets can pose risks to business stability. The study recommends that businesses diversify their financing sources, monitor market trends closely, and adopt risk management strategies to navigate financial market fluctuations effectively.
